The Mic/Line switch allows you to match your input to your audio source, whether it is Microphone or Line level.
A microphone input is designed to accept a low-level signal from a microphone, which typically has a weaker output than other audio sources. The microphone input includes a preamp to boost the weak microphone signal to a level suitable for further processing and amplification.
On the other hand, a line input is designed to accept a higher-level audio signal from sources such as synthesizers, drum machines, and CD players. Line inputs do not have a preamp and expect the incoming signal to already be at line level, meaning the signal is already at a suitable level for processing and amplification.
